Impact tests were conducted on February 28th, 2014 on our Model R23 above ground shelter.
The test projectile of 15 lbs. was propelled at 100 mph, which relates to that projectile being propelled horizontally by a 250 mph ground speed tornado.
The Model R23 passed all impacts. The tests prove the shelter is capable of resisting the debris impact guidelines of the FEMA 320/361 and ICC-500.
All tests were conducted by the Texas Tech University Wind Research Center and are compliant with FEMA 320/361 (2008) and ICC-500 (2008).
